Q1:  What is Renewyourtag.com?
A:  Renewyourtag.com is a convenience website to help people with paying County related taxes easily and without having to wait in line.

Q2:  Where do I find my Secret Code, Record number, or Pin number?
A:  You will receive a renewal card in the mail. On the card you will find your number and/or code.

Q3:  What is an e-check?
A:  It is just like writing a check from your check book. Just make sure you copy the 9 routing numbers and the bank account number accurately.

Q4:  Is the site secure?
A:  Yes, 100% secure, we use a 256 bit encryption for every transaction going through our system.

Q5:  What is the convenience fee?
A:  The convenience fee is collected by IMS Enterprises, Inc, an Alabama company for tech support, security, credit card fees, bank fees, hosting, and up keep of renewyourtag.com software. Processing fees are $3.50 for the first tag and $2.00 for each additional tag or 3% of the total due. If you use a credit card you will pay the higher amount. E-checks are not subject to the 3% calculation. You may review the fees before processing and cancel at that time.

Q6:  Will the special mailing feature act as a change of address?
A:  No, this feature is intended for military personnel, college students, and other circumstances in which the person can not receive their mail at the address on record with the County.

Q7:  Why does it cost more for certain types of payments?
A:  Visa and Master card charge higher fees for certain types of cards.

Q8:  Why do I have to pay at all?
A:  Your County has no legal authority to assume the expense of online payment. Visa and Master Card banks charge processing fees that must be paid by someone.

Q9:  What happens if I’m having trouble getting to the payment website?
A:  Sometimes the internet is not working properly or at least for your connection. Also the payment website may be temporarily busy or off-line for maintenance or backup. Try again later and call us (256 246-0600) for help if the problem persists.

Q10:  Is there a cut off date or deadline for renewing online?
A:  You may renew your tag up until the last day of your renewal month; actually up until midnight on the last day.

Q11:  Why am I receiving the error "Sorry, the tag number you entered was not found in the system."?
A:  This error is generated any time a tag is not found in our system. This may be caused by keying the tag number in incorrectly (using a capital 'o' instead of a zero, or a '8' for a 'B') or if the tag you are trying to renew is for a prior month and has been purged from the system.

Q12:  Can I make any changes to my account (address, name change, custom plate)?
A:  No. Any information that needs changed has to be taken care of at the county court house.

Q13:  Do you accept Discover or American Express?
A:  No, the only forms of payment we accept are Visa, Master Card, Debit Cards, and Direct Checks.

Q14:  Is my special tag fee/discount applied to the amount on this site?
A:  Yes. All fees and discounts are already applied to your renewal. The amount you see on your card and the amount you pay online both include those amounts.

Q15:  Why do I still have to pay the mail fee if I'm renewing online?
A:  The mail fee covers the county's time and cost to mail your decals to you. This is the same thing the mail fee applies to when the renewal card is mailed in (because you pay the postage there, as well).

Q16:  When I insert my tag number in; it tells me that the tag does not exist?
A:  The Zero can be mistaken for the letter O sometimes. If you continue to have problems with your tag number you may call our help line or send us an e-mail.

Q17:  Where can I find the form for Handicapped renewals?

Q18:  How long will it take for my E check to process?
A:  E-Checks take about 5 to 10 business days to process.

Q19:  How long will it take for my Credit card or Debit card to process?
A:  Credit Cards and Debit cards take 2 to 3 days to process.
